Refuge of Contemplation

Painting is my escape and my return. I am able to return to the moments that move me the most. I capture the beauty of a landscape or the character of a living creature and make it permanent on my canvas. Through my travels and time in nature, I invite the viewer to share in my sense of wonder. My desire is to turn these experiences into an opportunity of reflection and joy to the viewer.

About Sabina

Sabina is a nature-inspired representational oil painter in Durango, Colorado focusing on the landscape and its animal life. Her color palette is inspired by her travels and everyday encounters.

Her career as an elementary school teacher fostered a love of lifelong learning and an openness to multiple perspectives. These qualities spurred an artistic pursuit and a curiosity to become a self-directed oil painter. Her dedicated process of self-teaching is to utilize workshops, mentoring and online classes.

As a traveler and keen observer of nature, she uses her practice to revive the sights, sounds and spirits encountered on her adventures. Sabina aspires to offer a refuge of contemplation through her paintings generated from her gusto for both art and the natural world.

Her work expands from oil painting to include over 170 different greeting cards and a self-published book sold at seven locations in Durango.
